Hard throwing closer Scott Mathieson was promoted to Philadelphia to help the Phillies try to reach the postseason for the fourth consecutive year. Mathieson leads all organization pitchers this year with 26 saves in AAA along with a stellar 83 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched with only 24 walks issued. Known to hit triple digits, Mathieson's velocity should be a nice weapon for the Phillies in the playoff stretch.

The Langley Blaze will run a fall ball program, utilizing 8 coaches with practices, instruction from ex college and professional players, and play approximately 24 games including two tournaments, commencing in late August until mid October. The team then heads indoors to our winter facility to refine skills and work with trainers on physical conditioning. Langley Blaze have drafted 26 players in the last 9 years including 3 first round picks in the last 4 years which is an accomplishment that very few top US programs have done. The Blaze start the season each year with an ambitous spring training schedule playing 8 professional teams made up of rookie and A ball players and 6 games vs US college teams in front of numerous scouts all on major league fields in Phoenix and Tucson. Our annual Los Angeles trip sees the team play at the 30 million dollar MLB facility as well as such famous universities such as Cal State and Pepperdine. 2009 yearly registration fees were $2250.00 which also covers island ferry and bus costs as well as hotels on the regular PBL season road games. We have numerous fundraisers opportunities to pay for extra trips. All home games are played at beautiful 1000 seat Mcleod Stadium in Langley which was built as a joint venture between the Langley Blaze and the Township of Langley and is maintained soley by the team.

All players are welcome from LANGLEY, ALDERGROVE, CLOVERDALE and MAPLE RIDGE. If you are out of the catchment area players MUST have a signed release from their home club. We encourage players to play in their own catchment area if possible.  Click here to register online.
