BLAZE WIN PARKSVILLE TOURNAMENT

For the second year in a row and the fifth time in eight years, the Langey Blaze have their name on the Best of the West tournament championship trophy.

Game mvps were RHP Mike Ellis in game one for keeping the North Delta Blue Jays to just one run in a 4-1 victory that was closer than the score indicted. Carter Morrison took the mvp against the Calgary team hitting a clutch single as well as a tape measure home run as the Blaze went on to a 13-1 mercy. Mvp for the third game went to rhp Zak Miller who threw a gutsy game against a strong North Shore team, allowing only 2 runs, with only one earned. Game 4 saw the Blaze take a 6-0 first inning lead behind game mvp Jake Chapman's hr bomb to rf. Jake finished the day 4-4 with Derek Sinke also hitting a big hr to add to the 12-4 score. The final saw a dominant pitching performance by hard throwing Game mvp Rory Young in shutting down the Nanaimo Pirates bats in a 5-0 game. Catcher Brooklyn Foster had a key two run, two out rbi single early to set the tone.

Tournament mvp went to Blaze ss Wes Darvill who continually made stellar plays in the field and hit .400 at the plate including some key hits.

Congratulations to all Blaze players!

BLAZE WIN ABBOTSFORD TOURNAMENT!

RHP Zak Miller and Catcher Brett Lawrie paced the Blaze to an 8-1 win against host Abbotsford Cardinals in the morning crossover to earn a berth in the championship game. In the final game against the North Shore Twins the Blaze took an early lead and went on to route the Twins 8-2 on strong pitching performances by RHP Stosh Wawrzasek who hit 93mph, RHP Mike Ellis and a particularly dominating closing performance by RHP 10th grader Alex Reid touching 87mph. This along with clutch hitting by Wes Darvill, Joe Germaine, Russ Kennedy, Nic Mahovlich and Brett Lawrie gave the strong league leading North Shore all they could handle.
